Is it me or do you sound very different?

Ugh. Water. I have a Troy Bilt pressure washer. When I was outside pressure washing one day, I came up with the bright idea of pressure washing the pressure washer. Being the genius that I am, I forgot about the vent on the gas cap. It took more than a year to get all of the water out of the system. I cleaned the tank and carb multiple times, replaced all of the fuel lines, and I still had water in the system. It was a nightmare.

I'm from Australia too, I've had 2 of these and never failed, anyone who say's these are junk seriously don't know what they're talking about, first pull they always start and super quiet.

My guess right now is that somebody bought that new brought on home set it all up tried it put it away with the fuel still in it came back the next year or when they came back to use it it didn't start how long that gasoline has been in that carburetor been there for a long time when there was nothing else wrong with this so discount of $2,000 for fuel stored in a generator for too long. That's called the win

I personally do not see the merit in using gimmicky ultrasound cleaners on carburators. When you consider the fact that you risk damaging all of the gaskets and O-rings either by the removal process or by the ultrasound cleaner I don't think they make any sense. Just by blowing carb cleaner through all of the passages this should always be enough to clean out any carb.

My Dad laughed at me for cleaning his tiller. Just like yours. Then I bought one at a garage sale for $20. Then a friend gave me one. My sister friend had a junker off brand that she bought for someone to use on her property. They burned the belt off in one day. I fixed it. I went in the hospital for 6 weeks. All of the tillers were at my friends property except my Dads'. When I finally could walk again all 3 tillers were gone. Not to mention tools and other equipment. Should never fixed those tillers till I needed them. lol

James, I worked my way through high school and undergrad fixing lawn equipment for a hardware store. It was fun to bring a non-operable mower or tiller back to life. Your videos remind me of those days 60 years ago! Thanks!

I am speechless this would be thrown away! I have a similar model a few steps above this one. If it breaks … Honda sell spares for every part of the engine and electronics! That’s why I choose Honda - you can actually fix them! I also have a lawnmower with a Honda GXV120 bought for $50 - sold with partially seized engine, and I bought it to rebuild to learn now!. Turned out to be a single spring was missing in the throttle control linkage. Replaced with a genuine Honda spring (cost $7, technically overpriced, but given that the lawnmower is worth >$1000 - not complaining. That generator is a good find, and will last decades once fixed!

$500 for a non running 10 year old 10000 watt generator isn't cheap. Now if it were $300 it would be decent but you could spend $300 to $500 easy just to get it back working like new if that's even possible. I guess all that matters though is whether the purchaser is happy.

Mine died using once. No spark. Coil wire and spark plug boot has poor connection, wire is tiny, it has a press in clip that is to touch the tiny wire in the insulation (if lucky). Returned for credit today. Fed Ex took it. First clue was no fire even with a shot of starting fluid. Ran about 10 min. bogged down, Oddly the chain and bar threw sparks off the top when revving and not cutting.

The end of the diode with the line is the cathode or negative end the other end is the anode or positive. At least a 10:1 ratio of resistance if you have an ohmmeter with out diode test function.

Is this a Chinese lawn mower? Or one you can get from Harbor Freight? On the first few pulls, it sounds like the carbeurator isn't getting any spark. If that is not the reason, then I would guess it won't start because of all the gummy varnish. Hopefully you'll spritz some starter fluid into the air intake. We'll see.

I wouldn't want to put a used timing gear into engine after all the time and effort I'd already invested !

That sine wave is remarkably clean for a non-inverter. Wonder if having a 2 cylinder engine helps smooth things out a bit as theoretically the power heads should provide a perfect sine wave given perfect rotation.

Nice repair on this green machine! Does it have automatic choke? Maybe if it did the speed of the engine would adjust to the increase/decrease load?

I'm confused. Why are you doing all of these adjustments on a carburetor that needs to be taken off and cleaned. Shouldn't you clean it first, then adjust it?

I had this exact model in the early '90's I loved it! As I recall, there was a sequence to follow. 7 pumps on the choke, 4 pulls with the adjustment on the side one way, and 3 pulls with it slid the other way. That's from a cold start. I wish I had kept it.

What strikes me after watching the entire video is the need to have a garage full of tools in addition to having the skills to use them.
